The 15th International Conference on Neutron Scattering (ICNS)
Copenhagen, Denmark and Lund, Sweden – The 15th International Conference on Neutron Scattering (ICNS) was held from July 6th to 10th, 2025, drawing over 780 participants from across the globe. This quadrennial event began with an opening address by Kim Lefmann, a Professor at the University of Copenhagen, alongside Astrid Schneidewind chair of the European Neutron Scattering Association (ENSA) and Christopher Røhl Andersen from the City Council of Copenhagen, which established a collaborative atmosphere for the conference.
A key highlight of the conference was the lecture by Wiebke Lohstroh, titled “DAPHNE4NFDI – Enhancing Research Data Management.” Her engaging presentation not only captured the audience’s attention but also significantly boosted awareness and interest in the DAPHNE4NFDI initiative. One of the standout moments in her talk was an update on the implementation of modern technologies—such as SciCat—at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ).
Many colleagues contributed to the conference by showcasing detailed posters that highlighted various facets of the DAPHNE4NFDI initiative. Additionally, representatives from DAPHNE4NFDI managed an informative exhibition stand located at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) stand. They engaged in discussions and addressed inquiries from eager participants. We received numerous questions about how DAPHNE4NFDI is structured and its connections to universities and facilities, with a focus on outreach and persuading individuals. Inquiries were also made regarding the infrastructure at research facilities and various technologies (such as SciCat). Overall, we can report that there was significant international interest in this German initiative, evidenced by enthusiastic discussions and positive feedback from international colleagues.
We take pride in our contributions and the considerable impact we achieved at this esteemed conference.
