DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section 2026
DRESDEN, GERMANY – From March 8 to 13, 2026, the Technical University of Dresden hosted the: The German Physical Society (DPG) Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM). With over 5,000 scientists from all over the world this was the largest gathering of the DPG conferences.
Strengthening the FAIR Data Community
A central highlight of the exhibition was the joint presence of the NFDI consortia DAPHNE4NFDI and FAIRmat. Throughout the week, team members engaged in high-level dialogue with researchers, students, and industry partners, introducing the core missions of DAPHNE4NFDI: making data from large-scale facilities findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR).
Beyond answering technical inquiries, the booth served as a networking focal point, allowing the consortia to forge new connections across the condensed matter community and distribute essential information on upcoming data tools and infrastructure developments.
Fostering International Synergy: Neutron Science Round Table
On Wednesday, March 11, a high-profile round table discussion focused on "Novel Opportunities for France/Germany Cooperation in Neutron Science." Against the backdrop of major changes in European neutron facilities, the session addressed the vital role Germany and France are expected to play in this emerging landscape. Hosts Julian Oberdisse and Frank Schreiber led a panel discussion aimed at reshaping and reinventing the traditionally strong bonds between the two countries in both scientific and technical collaboration.
As the DPG Spring Meeting concludes, DAPHNE4NFDI looks forward to integrating the insights gained in Dresden into its ongoing mission to support the physics community in the digital age.
